Lost and Found Procedures

 

Duration


We hold lost items* for a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of 60 days from when we receive them.

*As soon as lost items enter the Lost & Found, they become BYU property and can be handled at the University’s discretion.

 

What We DO NOT Hold


  • water bottles
  • any culinary utensils (such as tableware, forks, spoons, knives, cups, etc.with the exception of Lunchboxes which are held).
  • dirty, wet, or smelly clothing or shoes
  • Underclothing
  • large items (furniture, crutches, posters, easels, scooters, strollers, or other large items that will not fit in the current storage bins).
  • BYU ID cards are delivered to the ID Center (1057 WSC)

 

Unclaimed Items


Unclaimed items are periodically pulled from the lost and found and donated to a variety of charity organizations including Deseret Industries.
